DOESN'T WORK!
The only thing I saw in your video was that Stykz was not installed into the Program Files folder, but on your desktop in a folder called "Stykz Release Candidate 1.0 Build 185"; I don't know if you have a similar folder for RC2. Shouldn't matter, but just commenting...
OK, let's try completely manually uninstalling/reinstalling just to be on the safe side. Here's the steps to follow (make sure you do them in this order just in case):
- Remove the Stykz app - Go to where you installed RC 2 (usually it's installed at C:\Program Files\Stykz), and delete the "Stykz" folder.
- Remove the Stykz preferences - Go to where the Stykz Prefs folder is installed, at C:\Users\<yourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Stykz, and delete it (you can back it up if you have any custom .styk figures you added to the Library back in the beta). You may not see the "AppData" folder unless you have turned on the ability to see invisible files and folders. If you can't see it, follow these instructions
- Remove the Stykz registry entries - NOTE: Be careful here to delete only what I specify so you don't mess up your machine!
- Click on the Start "orb" button (
), then in the "Start Search" box, type "regedit" and hit Enter.
- Expand the tree for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, and scroll down until you see an entry for ".styk". Click on it to highlight it, and then delete it by hitting the Delete key; acknowledge the "are you sure" dialog.
- Do the same for the ".stykz" entry.
- Scroll down farther in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT until you see the entries for "Stykz.DocFile" and "Stykz.FigureFile". Select those and delete them as well.
- Click on the Start "orb" button (
- Quit the Registry.
- Empty the Recycle Bin, and then reboot.
- Rerun the RC2 installer, and accept all of the default settings.
- When it's done, it should launch Stykz (since that should be checked at the last installer screen).
