Agent X Figure Contest.

Postby dipper.f on Mon Mar 14, 2011 10:02 am

A while ago, me and Ike Got into a figure making contest, to see whether he really had the right to criticize me (or maybe just for fun).
We decided to both recreate this character.(without his jacket) And this is the result. I am posting my half first, all results will be available.
Hopefully IKE will be able to post his figure soon too...

Well, here it is. I've finally finished it. Excuse the lack of gun, I haven't quite finished it yet.

I am excited to get some votes in so that we can determine our winner. However I am feeling quite confident.

It was a long grueling process, and my style does not quite agree with turning comic book characters into stykz, however I really enjoy the competition.

Behold, Agent X.

It would be appreciated if you would leave a comment after you vote explaining why you voted for the one you did.

I voted for IKE because his figure has more detail and he uses thinner lines.

I just don't like the boots that much.

I voted for dips....but before you call me biased here's why:

Ike, i liked the detail in yours a lot because i felt dips was a bit off on the skin. In the end though it was size because i actually prefer the fatter stykz TBH. Sorry if thats unfar but i just like fat
girls
stykz.

alright i voted for dips too but for a different reason than monkey. lol

When i look at the two you got the thicker and thinner, to be honest an in-between would be best. But i prefer dips from my animating stand point. Detail wise, Ike's got you whipped dip, but pratical for animating (for me at least) dips heavily out weighs Ikes. I like to strech and shrink my guys, for the 3d effect, to be honest, ikes would be a nightmare.

So, to me, simplicity rules.

I voted for Ike, here's why.

It was a really hard descision, but the reason I picked Ike's was because of his amazing detailwork. I did like dipper's facial expression, and I agree with JerK's animation standpoint, but since this was a styk making contest, and I'm a detail-maniac, I had to go with Ike. Sorry.

Now maybe Ike will stop hating me.

This I understand, however to solve this problem you have to merely leave some of the features out, and also do a frontal view of the styk. This is one reason why I do not agree with making comic book characters unless you make a stykz specified version of him e.g. something a little ways off of the original thing that suits the program better. I feel that comic characters have MANY features with LOTS of detail, and sometimes to just leave them out feels wrong. And to try and tackle the features with basic detail also doesn't feel right. But then if you do add the detail animating with the thing becomes near impossible unless you are using it for basic side view fights. My styk for example.

In fact, had I been doing an Agent X styk I planned on animating with I probably would have done something more along the lines of a gun, detail on the head, and not much else. Just enough detail to to tell what character he is. And to me, that just isn't right.

I'll stick with self designed stykz. Like my signature styk; "Ike". That way I can be creative, add a good style, and animate easily. I'll be making some cool stykz like that, and it isn't too hard.

Those are just my thoughts.
