There's actually a similar thing going on over here, in Australia. There may be another rating category introduced, the R18+.
Currently, our game rating goes like this:
G = General (suitable for everyone)
PG = Parental Guidance Recommended
M15+ = Mature Audiences.
MA15+ = Mature Audiences, but you can not buy this in stores if you are under 15.

The R18+ category is restricted. It can not be played by anyone under 15, or bought by anyone under 18.
I intend to live forever.

That's like a mix between the american film ratings and the american game ratings.

In America, it's actually called NC-17. I think it used to be called X, though.

That sounds odd... I guess it's cause I'm so used to the lowest age being 17 for everything.
