Longer no-post span

Postby The_Three-Armed_Man on Sun Jul 18, 2010 12:25 pm

I think that the time to post something should be two weeks instead of one. Also, if you're gone for more than a week, you should be able to post on threads with their last post more than a week ago as long as the last post was while you were gone.

Well bumping is bumping even if you were gone so I think that should stay how it is.

And by the no-post span are you referring to a temporary ban or something else?

No, like if a topic is older than a week old you can't post in it unless you have new things to discuss or you have a really good reason.

Oh, stupid me.

I think that a week is usually enough time to declare that the topic isn't important/popular anymore. But maybe certain sections could have variations on the rules. One week seems pretty standard and it works for most forums, but I think this is actually a pretty good suggestion.

Anybody else have a say in this?

I believe there are exceptions to the rule but if it's just a useless post then it is still a bump after seven days.

I see it, later than 10 days is to far, unless;
A) It is being bumped with significant information, sufficient enough to continue discussion.
B) It's an animation/art/styk thread and is being bumped by an owner.
C) Almost all forum games.
D) A reason justified by the bumper.

Anyway, any more sufficient information to keep this topic going, or shall it be simply locked?

But what if like there is no topic above it and it is older than 7 days, does it matter then?

I think as long as you follow my reasoning above, you should be fine bumping. Ima close the topic now.
