I tried posting on the feature request page but wasnt able to post anything... anyways thought this was a good place to post and i hope its not lost. Im currently working as a animator and was looking for a quick way to put together some fun animations together and i found Stykz (awesome and tones of fun btw) but its missing 2 key features that i feel are needed for any serious animation package.

1. Time line based animation (so set key on frame one, them on frame 10 and it does the animation in-between)
2. IK (inverse kinematics). having the ability to grab the waist and move it while having the feet stay where they are.

I have a feeling these two features would be anything but easy to add but i really think they are needed, at least from a professional animators point of view, it would certainly speed things up and make walking,running,jumping... anything where a character needs to "hold" on to something much easier.
Hopefully someone sees this and feels theses features would be as awesome as i think they would be and they would definitely blow pivot and any other program out of the water no questions asked.

Welcome to the forums.

I know that suggestion 2 is on the list (I suggested it myself), and I'm pretty sure the first suggestion will be implemented in one way or another as well.

Stykzman is said to be working on the next update but we haven't heard from him for a while. A lot of changes are supposed to be taking place, but I don't think these two suggestions are included.

I hope he gets it done soon, I really want to see Stykz break ahead of Pivot, and the next update might do it.

There are still SO many ways that Stykz could be improved, and Stykzman seems to be slowing down *:(*

Show us some things you've made.

Although I agree that both of those would be rather convenient, any "proffesional" animator should not be relying on time-line based animation as you put it. The frame "tweening" as in Flash, although really helpful, is a crutch and no proffesional animator relies on such things if they plan on keeping their job.

You know you can use Timeline-based animation without automatic tweening, right? Key frames are a feature used in everyday animation. A lead animator will draw the key frames, and the inbetweeners do everything in between.

Agreed.. Key frames are the industry standard. Would definitely recommend staying away from tweening, though. Unless it's for 2D objects or things in the background.
