.jokers animation thread: Huge update! 9/9/11

Postby .joker on Mon Aug 17, 2009 3:15 pm

Hello and welcome to my thread. I'm not new at animation and have been doing it since december last year. I mainly animate with pivot 3 and 2, but I'm getting in the flow for stykz. So enjoy my animations and I'll try to keep up with here since i'm a member of DD and droidz. so here you go, my lastest(not showing old, if you wanna see old look on darkdemon).

Alright, so today the Bitey Castle FX course started and over the next 8 weeks(+possibly further if I decide to pay for further instruction) I'll be learning the ins and outs of effects from the one and only:Adam Phillips(creator of The Last of the Dashkin's). This first week was about electricity and I enjoy feed back.

Decided to animate some a bit different than the assignment and put a little looping animation....best one I've in done in flash tbqh.

http://www.truploader.com/view/511060
This exercise is of just a basic 2 second animation of an electricity strike at 30 fps as specified for the assignment. I tested the perimeter with width the bolts, on the left is a skinnier and the right a thicker. I personally like the thicker since I think it holds a better power rather than the wide one, despite in reality the bigger bolt would be more powerfull, but also less likely to happen in real life, so I liked the small better.

This was another test on a solid object(a circle) I kept with the small bolt size and had one strike without traveling through the object and one that did.
http://www.truploader.com/view/425498
This one was the advanced assignment as for the other two were a beginning assignment. Object was to have one source(one spot)strike three objects. Thus I created a three objects:A set of barrels,a rod and a house. In this specific exercise I simply attempted to do a two and a three prong strike.

All together I think I should added more space between each strike...even though it is only 2 seconds.

"Now without doubt the war was fought. Victory was indeed never captured and in the end, the men stood their purpose. The land was shown what they were, and how they once was. IN the end, our conquer was done, you would think we gain such honorable land by pure sympathy, but no. The enemy saw true to what we were aiming for, violence never erupted, just pure art was released. I await for my medal of congratulatory, but i fear I have failed...then again, I only just begun what the master plan is set for. Men! Rise! take your hand and pledge with me: In no doubt of time fellowship is given. We shall dedicate our needs into one manner and in the end, rise through the crowd and prove we are worthy of such recognition. To the Faction!."

Your biggest problem is choppiness/shakiness. You need to work on easing a little more, and not just moving joints for the sake of moving joints. In addition to moving joints correctly, you need to ease faster. The animations are all just medium paced, no fast and slow. Although, they are kinda closer to too slow. Anyways, I leik your animations, just work on the above. :3

Easing is now your biggest problem. Also, lower the frame delay.

I loved the flow from the floating to the walking, and the jump was okay, but the walk was stiff, and the kick was stiff and shaky.

After the punch everything went downhill.

And the second one was choppy.
