Reputation system

Postby DarkFlame on Tue May 25, 2010 11:44 pm

So I've seen this on some other forums, it's two little buttons under someone's avatar (A plus and a minus) and a number in between. When you press one of them, it brings up a dialog where you enter why you want to change their reputation. Then you click submit and it changes. Each person can only change a rep once per day though. It's interesting seeing what people are thinking about each other.

This would be really cool, but I can imagine people rating others down a whole lot for no reason.

Yeah, I wonder to what end the reputation system is used? Does a high or low reputation change anything on the forum?

Not really, it's just a good way to see at a glance what the public sentiment about someone is.

And to hydra, the key is that any one person can only change anyone's rep once a day.

Can you only vote for one person per day?

And does your reputation reset?

The thing is you have to watch out for all those noobs who will come and post their animations. Then, when we give them cc or tell them to read a tut, they'll go all "    UR STUPDIDD!!!11 -1"

Usually on forums with a reputation system, they'll be able to add a comment as to why their upping or downing their reputation. So that way other people can look upon the reasons for the reputation the person has earned...

But I think this would be a nice addition to the forum.
