And I think 10 fps is a bit slow.. Most beginners animate at 16-20 fps and experienced animators will usually animate at 20-24.

So start experimenting with the frame rates and find what works for you.

I'm a beginner and I'm working on one at 30 fps. *:P*

The animations are pretty good. The one in the first post is really choppy and slow for me, but the second one was really good.

Sure, that may be true, but not for a gif. Especially when you run off of chrome, IE, or opera. I prefer to run in the 20-24 range but because of the retarded frame delay limits I have to go down to 17 fps or it will be slowed down even further to 10 fps.

okay before you dive into the world of fps just choose a speed like 20 or 17 and just stay with it. constant changing just messes up your skills big time. I know first hand how bad it is, its best to just grow used to one constant speed.

That is MUCH better! It seemed a bit slow, but that's probably because of the frame rate you set. And you are right, the back joints do not need to move when the character is just walking, but if he is doing something with his arms or something, then generally the back will move around. The one thing I'd like to stress is foot placement. You will never believe how much better an animation looks when the feet don't slide. I guess a way to practice this is to set the opacity of the onion skin to be darker. I set mine at 35%, not the default 25%. You can change it in preferences.

EDIT: Another thing, I noticed his head was jerking around. The head doesn't need to move at all except for every little bit, and even then, you should just slowly ease the head forward a bit, and slowly ease it back a bit, and that's it. And I mean only a few pixels.

Really good! Maybe try loosening up the legs a little bit, but that's more of a style thing. (meaning you don't NEED to do it)

There is a bit of shakiness in the head near the beginning. He should life up his legs a tiny bit more. The legs aren't as fluid of a motion as they could be. Try moving the back more than the head because it looks really weird having only the head bob back and forth in a light walk. Foot placement looks good.. try bending the feet a tad more, though. The arm movements look perfect!

Good job, this one is a definite improvement.

Yes, very simple, infact, you see those all the time. But really, nice easing on the orb, I thought the electricity looked a little stiff.
