How-to guide for Transparencies

Postby EmPeeKay on Tue Jan 19, 2010 12:28 pm

Welcome to the How-to guide for transparencies.

Get the Styk! (I made this, but you don't need to credit me if you use it.)
Watch the Screencast!

Definition: A transparency styk is a styk that allows you to change the background of an animtion while still being able to use onionskins.

Step by step instructions on how to use.

  1. Download a transparency styk. (see link above)
  2. Open a blank stage in Stykz.
  3. Import the transparency stick that you downloaded earlier. (make sure the lines are running horizontally)
  4. Change color to your liking.
  5. Animate like normal.
  6. Export your animation as a .gif with it's height and width reduced by 50%
  7. Marvel in amazment that it actually worked.

Still need more help? Watch the screencast!

After watching the video I did not see any difference between making a stage have a BG colour or using that styk. They are the same when reduced to 50%.

I thought the styk would work like this:

I wonder why it works in pivot and not in stykz. They are the same methods...

that looks pretty cool, but it'd kill my computer. I'm scared to try it.

But different GIF export methods - I'll see if there's something I can do.
